What did you do to prep this week? A weekly post about the various things I do to help myself and my family/friends become better prepared.

I skipped last week due to the mass shooting that occurred. It seems that there is still a lot of controversy and conspiracy going on. I don’t get into those details, but I will say that the “facts” have raised even more questions.

Been a bit busy from a prep standpoint altogether. I’m looking for products to review in a “Budget” series. First up will be a multitool. While in Walmart looking at some possible budget gear for review, I ran across a Cobra 29 Compact CB radio. I KNOW ham is better than CB, but for those seeking mobile comms while on the trail, in convoy, or within the local area, I believe CB is a great resource to utilize. I’ve rebuilt my BOB and added a bit more weight to it overall. Bear in mind, this kit still remains under my targeted 30 pounds mark. I added some of the gear from the Cyalume Technologies kit linked HERE. Look for a review of the included Mora Companion coming soon.

Brother received a Tecsun shortwave radio from Amazon. I was impressed with its quality and the number of broadcasts we were able to listen in on. He’s been listening to radio programming from all over the WORLD with this radio. Link below… Seems to be a great piece of kit that can be used for information gathering. My wife and I are continuing to work on paying down debt and improving our overall financial futures. It’s hard work and quite consuming, but it will pay back in the long run. In this endeavor, we sold a kitchen table and chairs to put in the stash. I picked up some other items for cheap that I will be able to flip and also add. We intend to start flipping items to help build a fund to pay down things. Eventually, we will be able to use this funding for other endeavors and to make purchases of items we can use ourselves. Talk about spending a little and making a lot!

The last thing I did was buy a DPMS AR-15 barreled upper from a local guy I’ve met from Facebook. The barreled upper still has factory packing oil on the receiver! He included a Magpul polymer front BUIS with the upper for $125 total. Plans include free-floating, possible re-barreling, quality BUIS, and a good magnified optic.

So how about you? What have you done the past two weeks to prep?

One last thing… I now have Instagram if you are interested in following. Just look up Prepper Ralph and you’ll find me.
